The Rickshaw Run

The Rickshaw Run (http://www.rickshawrun.com) is an event organized by The Adventurists and occurs three times per year (Winter, Spring, and Autumn).

More than 70 teams from around the world embark on a journey through India in tuk tuks; over 70 motorized rickshaw vehicles meant for inner city transportation will brave 2000 miles of the diverse landscape of India – jungle, desert, mountain, and city, in an attempt to complete the adventure successfully. Think Amazing Race meets Cannonball Run.

Tuk Tuk Goose will be participating in the Winter 2010 Rickshaw Run, which embarks from the Himalayan town Pokhara (near Kathmandu) on January 1st and will arrive in Cochin, India (in southwest India) around 15 days later.

Most importantly, it will also be done to support local Nepalese and Indian charities. Check out the Charities tab (and donate!)

It’s a journey that will be grueling, that will challenge our wits, minds, and bodies. It will put us in highly adverse situations and it will be dangerous. But it will be an amazing experience.

  • I would be really interested to hear from people what they think about the inclines - auto rickshaws are incredible vehicles and I have had friends who have travelled on the Rickshaw Run across India over pretty tough terrain at times but perhaps not to this extreme.
